UAE ranks high on global environmental rankings

The UAE topped the Middle East and North Africa countries in the general ranking of the “Environmental Performance Index 2022” report issued by Yale University, which monitors the environmental performance of 180 countries, and the UAE ranked first in the world in 6 indicators of 40 indicators included in the report.

According to the Environmental Performance Index Report 2022, the UAE achieved a full score of 100% in 6 environmental indicators, namely: (marine reserves, ecosystem services, reduced wetland decline, low dependence on domestic solid fuels, low black carbon growth rate, and low carbon dioxide emissions). carbon dioxide from land cover).

The country also ranked first regionally and third globally in the “ecosystem vitality index”. The UAE also ranked first regionally in the “indicator of biodiversity and natural habitats” and ” Wastewater Treatment Index”

The UAE also achieved full score in the conservation of marine reserves, such as: Crimea Reserve and Sir Bani Yas Reserve, as well as protecting sea turtles and providing a suitable environment for them

The UAE comes first in the world in 6 indicators of environmental performance, as an inevitable result of its efforts in this vital sector over the past years

The “Environmental Performance Index” (EPI) has been issued every two years since 2006, to provide a summary of the state of sustainability around the world based on data and using 40 performance indicators covering 11 axes in the report, among the three main objectives of the report: climate change performance, environmental health In addition to the vitality of the ecosystem.

In total, the report provides a measure of the countries monitored by the report in terms of their pursuit of environmental policy goals. The report also provides guidance for countries that aspire to move towards a sustainable future.
