With UAE mediation: Russia announces 205 prisoner exchange with Ukraine

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the exchange of 205 prisoners from Russia and Ukraine, mediated by the UAE. Previously, the UAE had successfully mediated between Russia and Ukraine, leading to the largest prisoner exchange since the outbreak of the conflict between the two countries. The exchange included 246 prisoners from the Ukrainian side and 246 prisoners from the Russian side.

The mediation also included the exchange of a number of wounded prisoners between the two sides, including 31 wounded Ukrainians and 15 wounded Russians, for a total of 538 prisoners. This brings the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries in these mediations to 3,771.

 The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its "thanks to both countries for their cooperation in the success of the UAE's mediation efforts, which reflects their trust and appreciation for the UAE's commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at resolving the crisis between the two countries."

The ministry stated that "with the success of this mediation, the total number of Emirati mediations during the crisis has reached 14, stemming from the distinguished relations between the UAE, the Russian Federation, and Ukraine. " The ministry affirmed that "the UAE will continue its efforts to ensure the success of various efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine and mitigate the humanitarian impact of the crisis, such as refugees and prisoners."

Finally, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the country's commitment to continuing its efforts to achieve peace, not only in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but in various global crises. This mediation is part of a series of initiatives aimed at promoting humanitarian dialogue and alleviating the suffering resulting from conflicts.
