The Cairo Economic Court has set April 14th for the first hearing in the trial of Mohamed Waziri, the former business manager of artist Haifa Wehbe, on charges of money laundering.

The case stems from a previous report filed by Haifa Wehbe, accusing her former manager, Mohamed Waziri, of misappropriating her funds and withdrawing them from her bank accounts, then depositing them into his own account, exploiting the official power of attorney granted to him.

Investigations revealed suspected money laundering related to the alleged offenses. The investigations showed that the accused conducted several consecutive financial transfers within the banking system, involving large sums in Egyptian pounds and US dollars, exceeding 9 million Egyptian pounds and 800,000 US dollars, in an attempt to conceal the source of the funds and deflect suspicion by presenting them as seemingly legitimate transactions.

Real Estate and Luxury Cars

It was also revealed that the accused used various methods to conceal funds, including combining bank transfers with cash payments, making it difficult to trace their true source. He also used these funds to purchase assets and properties, buying real estate, administrative units, and luxury cars. Some of these properties were registered in the names of close associates, most notably his brother, in an attempt to conceal the actual owner.

The investigation confirmed that the accused established several commercial companies and used them as fronts to funnel money into seemingly legitimate activities. Investigators considered this a common tactic in money laundering.

Embezzlement, Fraud, and Imprisonment

The case of artist Haifa Wehbe captivated public opinion in 2020 when she filed official reports accusing her business manager, Mohamed Waziri, of misappropriating millions of her funds. This case attracted attention not only because of the large sum involved but also because it revealed the complexities of professional relationships that can, in an instant, escalate into a fierce legal battle between the parties.

The incident had previously been registered as a misdemeanor case, in which the defendant was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of embezzlement and fraud, stemming from the misappropriation of approximately $4 million from the artist Haifa Wehbe. She wrote on her official social media accounts: "This is one of several cases whose verdicts we await... Victory comes only from God, and praise be to God."

For his part, Wazeeri claimed to be married to the Lebanese star, a claim she denied, accusing him of several charges that are still pending before Egyptian courts.
