 The Egyptian Stock Exchange gained EGP 27 billion in the week following the Ramses Central Fire.


The Egyptian Stock Exchange ignored the repercussions of the Ramses Central Fire, which caused a midweek disruption to telephone and internet networks. The market capitalization of listed companies recorded a weekly increase of 1.1%, with gains approaching EGP 27 billion, after closing the week at EGP 2.365 trillion.


The market capitalization of the main index rose from EGP 1.340 trillion to EGP 1.361 trillion, a growth rate of approximately 1.6%. The market capitalization of small and medium-sized companies rose from EGP 439.1 billion to EGP 445.9 billion, a growth rate of approximately 1.6%.


The market capitalization of the broader index also rose from EGP 1.779 trillion to EGP 1.807 trillion, a growth rate of 1.6%. The Nile Stock Exchange's market capitalization increased from EGP 2.1 billion to EGP 2.3 billion, a growth rate of 6%.


Regarding indices, during the week's trading, the main index, the EGX 30, rose by 1.54% to close at 33,324 points. The small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) index, the EGX 70 Equal Weight, rose by 1.25% to close at 10,131 points. The EGX 100 Equal Weight index rose by 1.52% to close at 13,703 points. The EGX 30 Capped index rose by 1.69% to close at 41,469 points. The Tamyaz index jumped by 4.97% to close at 15,033 points.


The week's sessions witnessed a decline in the total trading value on the Egyptian Exchange to EGP 326.6 billion, while trading volume reached approximately 7.115 billion shares executed through 431,000 transactions. This compares to a total trading value of EGP 500.3 billion and a trading volume of 8.054 billion shares executed through 504,000 transactions during the previous week.


The total trading volume for companies listed on the Exchange's indices was distributed as follows: EGP 7.7 billion in shares of the main index, with a trading volume of 774.3 million shares executed, and 130,200 transactions.


The trading value of shares in the 70 Index reached approximately EGP 7.5 billion, with a trading volume of 4.6 billion shares executed through 177,800 transactions. Trading volume in the broader index reached approximately EGP 15.2 billion, with a trading volume of 5.3 billion shares executed through 308,000 transactions. Stocks accounted for 6.32% of the total trading value on the exchange, while bonds and treasury bills accounted for 93.68%.
