Experts.. A Well-Deserved Lead and the Fruit of Early Vision

The UAE has continued to solidify its global position in adopting artificial intelligence technologies, ranking first globally with a 70.1% adoption rate among its working-age population in the first quarter of 2026, according to the AI Demographics Report for the first quarter of 2026.

The report indicated that the rate of AI adoption in the UAE gradually increased from 59.4% to 64%, and then to 70.1% in the latest results, making it the first economy in the world to surpass the 70% mark, while large parts of the world remain below the 10% threshold.

The report showed that the use of artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly integrated into work and learning methods across the UAE, supported by foundations designed to enhance resilience, business continuity, and responsible growth.

This achievement reflects the UAE's position among the world's most advanced economies and confirms its continued adoption rate, which surpasses the global average of 17.8%. This highlights the impact of the ongoing national focus on developing digital capabilities and fostering an innovation ecosystem.

A Smart Strategy Leading the Digital Future

Dr. Ahmed Bahaa Khairy, a technology expert, pointed out that this Emirati excellence is the result of a comprehensive and smart national strategy launched in 2017 and extending until 2031. The UAE has successfully integrated these advanced technologies into the core of government administration and the daily services provided to citizens and residents, making it an inspiring global model for comprehensive digital transformation.

An Outlier Success

Microsoft's report on AI adoption for the first quarter of 2026 indicates a widening gap between the Global North and the Global South, with AI adoption growing at more than double the rate in higher-income regions.

The report highlights the ongoing challenges in digital connectivity, digital infrastructure, and AI capabilities in local languages as the main barriers to equitable adoption, and argues that well-considered, long-term investment is the most effective response.

In this regard, Major General Mahmoud Al-Rashidi, former Assistant Minister of Interior for Information Security in Egypt, praised the exceptional and unprecedented success achieved by the UAE in the field of artificial intelligence, despite the aforementioned challenges.

The Essence of the UAE Experience

Major General Al-Rashidi pointed out that the essence of the UAE's success lies in achieving the ultimate goal of artificial intelligence: facilitating government services and ensuring a high quality of life for citizens. He considered the use of smart applications across all sectors of the country to have made the UAE experience a model to be emulated in the efficiency of digital government performance.

A Comprehensive Leap Forward

In a related context, technology expert Mohamed Azzam emphasized that the importance of artificial intelligence is now clear to everyone and is no longer limited to specialists. He explained that this technology is bringing about a radical and comprehensive transformation in various vital sectors, from defense and energy to healthcare, retail, and financial services.

Azzam pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer limited to routine tasks, but has moved on to performing non-routine tasks, culminating in fully autonomous systems. He praised the UAE's pioneering role, noting its announcement of massive investments of approximately $1.4 trillion in AI over the next ten years.

He considered this direction to place the Arab region at the heart of the global technological movement, especially since AI is expected to add around $15 trillion to the global economy during the same period.

AI-Powered Leadership

He indicated that the UAE was a pioneer in recognizing the importance of AI as a driving force for the future economy, investing heavily in technological infrastructure and qualified human resources.
