UAE announces thwarting of cyberattacks targeting vital sectors
The UAE announced on Monday that it had thwarted organized cyberattacks targeting the country's digital infrastructure and vital sectors.
The UAE National Cyber Security Council stated that its cybersecurity system successfully "thwarted systematic cyberattacks of a terrorist nature, targeting the country's digital infrastructure and vital sectors, in an attempt to destabilize and disrupt essential services," according to the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).
It added that the nature of the attacks "included attempts to infiltrate networks, deploy ransomware, and conduct systematic phishing campaigns targeting national platforms, in addition to exploiting artificial intelligence technologies to develop sophisticated attack tools."
It continued that this "reflects a qualitative development in the methods of terrorist groups and their ability to employ modern technologies in carrying out their digital attacks."
