Massad Boulos with UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh
Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to US President Donald Trump on Arab and African Affairs, emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the United States and the United Arab Emirates on regional issues, praising the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Boulos stated that he held a "productive" meeting with UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh in Munich, stressing that ongoing coordination between Washington and Abu Dhabi on a number of issues "remains crucial for the security, stability, and prosperity of the region."
In a related context, Boulos confirmed that the United States is working in coordination with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE to reach a political solution to end the war in Sudan, as part of broader diplomatic efforts to halt the conflict that has been ongoing since 2013.
During his participation in the Munich Security Conference, he explained that this coordination is part of an initiative involving key regional powers aimed at ending the conflict and establishing peace.
He added that a four-party mechanism comprising the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates is making progress in its efforts to reach a comprehensive peace agreement, calling on the Sudanese parties to engage positively with the proposed initiatives to end the war.
These statements come amidst ongoing international and regional efforts to solidify a ceasefire, while on the ground and in the political arena continue to hinder reaching a final settlement to the crisis.
