Sheikh Humaid Al Nuaimi inaugurates the second edition of the Ajman Orphans Festival
His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, affirmed that the people of the UAE have set the finest examples in the field of charitable work, assisting orphans, the needy, and the destitute. He noted that they are present in every endeavor that draws them closer to God, both within and outside the country.
His Highness praised the role of institutions, organizations, associations, and business leaders for their contributions to supporting charitable work, particularly the sponsorship of orphans through various forms of support and assistance. This allows them to live under the care of the community, and the community to thrive through the support of this group, enabling them to look to the future with aspirations and contentment, filled with love, loyalty, and gratitude for their nation and its wise leadership.
This statement followed the opening ceremony of the second Ajman Orphans Festival, held at the Ajman Youth Center, affiliated with the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare, in the Al Safiya area. The festival was organized by the Permanent Committee for Social Development of the Ajman Executive Council and saw the participation of more than 200 orphans.
His Highness the Ruler of Ajman praised the wise leadership's contributions to supporting orphans, noting its pioneering role in establishing comprehensive governmental and non-governmental institutions that care for them and provide all the services they need. This approach is guided by the noble principles of our true religion, which calls for honoring this segment of society, and includes the enactment of laws that guarantee their rights.
His Highness stated that Islam urges care for orphans and affirms their rights, ensuring them a dignified life and psychological and social stability. He added that honoring orphans stems from our Islamic values, which elevate their status and preserve their place in society, enabling them to become productive and contributing members of their community by providing them with educational, health, and psychological care, and all their necessary needs.
His Highness further stated, "In the Emirate of Ajman, we strive to remove all obstacles facing this group and exert various efforts to meet the needs of orphans and provide them with continuous care in all health, educational, and social aspects, so that they may successfully navigate life's challenges."
The opening ceremony of the festival was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Representative of His Highness the Ruler of Ajman for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department of Tourism Development; Sheikha Ghaza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Chairperson of the Permanent Social Committee in Ajman; Ali Hassan Al Hammadi, Director of the Ajman Educational Zone; Hamad bin Ghalita Al Ghafli, Private Secretary to His Highness the Ruler of Ajman and Member of the Federal National Council; Tariq bin Ghalita Al Ghafli; and a number of sheikhs and senior officials.
The festival began with a tour by His Highness and his entourage, who inspected the various activities and events in which more than 200 orphans and their families are participating. These activities are taking place in diverse pavilions set up in the sports hall, including a Creativity and Innovation Corner, a Heritage Village Corner, a Reading Corner, a Health and Nutrition Corner, a Child Safety Corner, a Corner for the Services of the Committee for Needy Families, a Recreational Games Corner, an Arts Corner, and other activities.
His Highness listened to a detailed explanation of the objectives of these events and their significant role in focusing on orphans, as well as providing assistance to those in need across all segments of society. He also learned about the information, services, and other activities offered by these pavilions, including lectures, cultural and sporting competitions, and more.
At the end of the tour, His Highness received a commemorative gift in appreciation of his generous support for charitable organizations and their leaders, and his keenness to support charitable work in the community, especially for orphans.
His Highness also honored the participants in the festival, including the Sanad Program of the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development (Child Safety), Ajman University (Health and Nutrition), Ajman Girls Center (Heritage Corner), Ajman Youth Center (Arts Corner), Dar Al Nabati Publishing House in Abu Dhabi (Reading Corner), the Ministry of Education (Creativity Corner), the Dibba War Band, and the Juvenile Awareness Association.
For her part, Sheikha Azza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charitable Foundation and Head of the Festival's Higher Committee, praised His Highness the Ruler of Ajman's support for orphans and their families. She emphasized that this is not new in His Highness's ongoing support and care for this group, aimed at alleviating their financial and emotional burdens and meeting all their needs.
Sheikha Azza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi stated that the Ajman Orphans Festival aims to strengthen ties and unify efforts among the six associations operating in the Emirate of Ajman under the umbrella of the Social Committee of the Executive Council. This collaboration seeks to provide better care for orphans and their families, raise awareness among community members, and encourage them to support charitable work for orphans, in cooperation with the festival's organizing committee.
She expressed her gratitude to all participating entities that contributed to the success of the Orphans Festival, which will be held annually with the support and patronage of His Highness the Ruler of Ajman. She emphasized that this cooperation among the festival's organizers aims to unify efforts to provide better services and meet all the needs of this segment of society, from completing their education to enjoying a dignified life, while also promoting social responsibility among community members and orphans.
She commended the broad participation in the festival, highlighting the support and involvement of numerous private and public institutions. She noted that this year's festival saw a significant increase in the variety of pavilions and sections, particularly those dedicated to creativity, innovation, arts, reading, and other areas.
She also praised the festival's success. The President reviewed the festival's activities, which lasted for more than eight continuous hours and included numerous workshops and diverse initiatives. These included a heritage workshop focused on teaching children about Emirati heritage, a reading workshop to encourage children to read, and a creativity and innovation corner.
He emphasized that the main objective of the Orphans Festival is to convey a message to this group that society has not and will not forget them, and that caring for orphans and standing by them is a national duty and an honor that everyone should strive to fulfill.
