Egypt: The Security of the UAE and the Gulf is an Integral Part of Our National Security

Egypt reiterated its firm and unwavering position that the security of the United Arab Emirates and all its sisterly Gulf states is an integral part of Egyptian national security. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt condemned the drone attack targeting the UAE, which resulted in a fire at an electrical generator outside the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.

Egypt affirmed in the statement that this blatant attack represents a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the UAE and the rules of international law. For its part, the UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that it had launched an investigation to determine the source of the drone attack that targeted an electrical generator outside the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi.

The Ministry stated, "UAE air defenses engaged three drones that entered the country from the western border. Two were successfully intercepted, while the third struck an electrical generator outside the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region." The Ministry did not provide further details.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty explained that the current crisis has cast a dark shadow, disrupting trade and supply chains, particularly after attacks on oil facilities led to a global surge in fuel prices. He warned that the escalating conflict threatens to plunge the region into a full-blown war and widespread chaos, which can only be addressed through diplomatic solutions and dialogue.

The Foreign Minister stated that Cairo is maintaining intensive contact with all relevant international and regional parties to halt the war as quickly as possible and avert its catastrophic consequences. He emphasized that the negative repercussions of this crisis have not been confined to the region but have extended to many friendly and brotherly nations.
