The UAE to Host Global Future Councils for Five Years

At the conclusion of the World Economic Forum, the UAE government and the Forum launched a new phase of their strategic knowledge partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to host the annual meetings of the Global Future Councils in Dubai for the next five years. This step reflects a commitment to strengthening cooperation in shaping the future, supporting global efforts to address economic and social challenges, and empowering governments to build more resilient and sustainable development models.

The Global Future Councils, whose outcomes form key pillars of the official agenda at the Davos Forum Annual Meetings, are a cornerstone of the strategic knowledge partnership between the UAE government and the World Economic Forum. This partnership builds upon a successful collaboration spanning over 16 years, during which 900 global councils have been organized, covering topics most relevant to human life and the future, with the participation of more than 12,000 officials, experts, and specialists from around the world.

A Sustainable Partnership for Shaping the Global Future Agenda

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, affirmed that the sustainable strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum embodies the vision of the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to build effective and constructive global partnerships based on action and positive impact, and to promote comprehensive and sustainable development.

He stated that the UAE is an active partner in shaping the global future agenda through impactful projects and joint initiatives with sustainable effects. He noted that the UAE government believes international cooperation is a fundamental tool for building the future, and that working with the World Economic Forum opens new horizons for policy development and accelerating government innovation globally.

He added that the Global Future Councils represent an advanced model of cooperation, partnership, and collaborative action platforms that bring together minds and expertise from various sectors. These councils enhance governments' capabilities to transform challenges into development opportunities and solidify the UAE's position and role as a global hub for designing future solutions that serve humanity and improve the quality of life for communities.

A Sustainable Strategic Partnership

It is worth noting that the UAE government and the World Economic Forum have developed a sustainable global strategic partnership over the past years. This partnership aims to enhance the exploration of future opportunities, strengthen integration and cooperation in supporting global efforts to achieve shared goals, and develop comprehensive future plans and strategies.

The areas of cooperation include diverse partnerships, initiatives, and programs to support the UAE's national strategies and achieve future visions, in addition to supporting the Forum's objectives by harnessing innovation, technology, artificial intelligence, and the tools and solutions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in vital sectors.

The outcomes of the Global Future Councils represent key pillars on the official agenda of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meetings in Davos.

They serve as a reference for governments and decision-makers to develop practical visions and strategies that contribute to building a more sustainable and innovative future for generations to come. They also contribute to guiding the global dialogue on future policies and development priorities, enhancing the readiness of governments and societies to deal with upcoming transformations.
