Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, marking its continued success and solidifying its position as a leading global developer of clean energy solutions and technologies.

On this occasion, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, stated that thanks to the visionary leadership and strategic decision of the UAE's wise leadership, Masdar was established 20 years ago to strengthen the UAE's role in the energy sector by investing in various clean energy solutions and creating a diverse and integrated energy mix.

He emphasized that, in line with the UAE's vision of building bridges of cooperation and strategic partnerships as a cornerstone of growth, Masdar continues to contribute to forging strategic partnerships, engaging in joint ventures, opening new horizons for investment, developing and enhancing the efficiency and resilience of the energy system, and supporting sustainable development initiatives worldwide.

He emphasized that energy is a fundamental pillar for building strong and stable economies and supporting the growth and prosperity of societies. It is the engine that enables the world to move forward confidently and steadily in building a prosperous future.

Innovative Solutions and Quality Projects

Since its inception, Masdar, established in 2006, has implemented ambitious plans based on knowledge and excellence in developing and executing renewable energy projects in the region and globally, with a focus on innovative solutions.

This approach is embodied in the company's pioneering role in implementing a range of first-of-their-kind projects that have pushed the boundaries of innovation and solidified the UAE's position as a global hub for developing and deploying clean energy solutions. In 2022, Masdar entered a new phase of expansion, becoming owned by three of the world’s leading national energy and investment companies: Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Mubadala Investment Company.

The company is currently investing in sustainable projects worldwide, with a production capacity exceeding 65 gigawatts, and is on track to achieve its goal of reaching 100 gigawatts by 2030.

He added that as Masdar enters a new decade of growth, it continues to build upon its pioneering achievements, guided by a clear vision, to accelerate its expansion efforts in global markets and move towards achieving its 100 GW target by 2030. This underscores its unwavering commitment to providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy, contributing to sustainable economic and social growth, and enhancing global energy security.

Milestone Milestones

Masdar has also developed other major projects in the UAE, including the Emirates Wind Energy Program, the first of its kind in the country, with a production capacity of 103.5 megawatts. The program utilizes cutting-edge and innovative technologies suited to low wind speeds and was developed using the latest advancements in materials science and aerodynamics.

This achievement represents a significant leap forward in the clean energy sector. By integrating solar energy technologies with battery energy storage systems, the project enables the grid to receive an uninterrupted supply of renewable electricity around the clock, while simultaneously solidifying the UAE’s leading global position in adopting and developing future energy solutions.
