
Visit of the UAE Women`s Union delegation to China*
Under the directives of the "Mother of the Nation," the General Women's Union concludes its official visit to China.
The delegation of the General Women's Union, headed by Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the Union, concluded its official visit to China, which took place from April 12 to 19. The visit aimed to build strategic international partnerships that support the empowerment of Emirati women and enhance their global presence.
This visit comes under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation," Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. It reflects the UAE's vision of elevating women's empowerment to a level of global impact, within the framework of the "Mother of the Nation 50:50" initiative.
This is achieved by expanding the presence of Emirati women in various vital sectors and strengthening their role as active partners in international development initiatives, within an integrated approach that combines political, economic, social, and cultural dimensions, reflecting the comprehensiveness of the UAE's vision for women's empowerment and enhancing their international presence.
The visit featured an intensive work program, organized in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in the People's Republic of China, which facilitated the meetings and arranged the visit's program. This reflected the depth of the institutional presence and the breadth of the partnerships.
The delegation held a series of meetings with 107 Chinese entities, with the participation of 188 government and economic leaders. These meetings included formal sessions with 49 participants, roundtables with 25 representatives from various organizations, and the inaugural gathering of the UAE-China Businesswomen's Council, which attracted 114 participants from 81 entities, demonstrating the breadth of cooperation and the diversity of partners.

The interaction extended to a broad institutional network encompassing approximately 1,942 entities affiliated with the organizations met with. The accompanying events also garnered significant media attention.
During the first two days of the visit, Chinese media coverage garnered over 70 million impressions across various platforms and more than 400,000 reads, along with hundreds of media articles and digital interactions, reflecting the visit's significant impact on both the media and professional levels.
These partnerships gain added importance in light of economic indicators related to women's entrepreneurship in China. The market capitalization of listed companies led by women on the Chinese stock market exceeds 10 trillion yuan, demonstrating the substantial role of women in the economy.
Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi affirmed that the visit marked a significant milestone in building international partnerships and yielded valuable outcomes, including the signing of memoranda of understanding and the expansion of cooperation with several government entities, economic institutions, and organizations dedicated to women's empowerment in China.
This will contribute to developing joint initiatives and exchanging expertise in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. She added that these outcomes reflect a strategic direction towards consolidating the presence of Emirati women on the international stage and enhancing their contribution to the future economy, in line with the UAE's aspirations to build sustainable development models based on knowledge and effective partnerships.
For her part, Engineer Ghalia Al-Mannai, Head of Strategic and Development Affairs at the General Women's Union, affirmed that the UAE's embassies around the world represent a fundamental pillar in supporting the objectives of the "Mother of the Nation 50:50" initiative, through strengthening international partnerships and empowering Emirati women on the global stage.
She added that the Union adopts a strategic approach towards expanding the development of high-quality partnerships, thereby enhancing the presence of Emirati women as an inspiring role model for women worldwide. She noted that these efforts are implemented in coordination with the embassies to ensure the sustainability of cooperation and expand the impact of initiatives in partner countries.
In this context, the UAE-China Women Entrepreneurs Council was chaired by Counselor Amna Al Hammadi, Deputy Ambassador of the UAE to the People’s Republic of China. She will represent both the General Women’s Union and the UAE Embassy at official meetings and related events, thereby strengthening institutional integration, solidifying the joint presence of economic diplomacy between the UAE and China, and supporting the Council’s effectiveness in its next phase.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation toured a ceramics factory in Beijing, observing the production stages of artistic ceramics, a prominent traditional Chinese craft known for its precision and high-quality hand-decorated decoration. The visit also explored ways to support women entrepreneurs in the creative and craft industries and to promote the transformation of cultural heritage into sustainable economic opportunities.
At the conclusion of their visit, the delegation emphasized the importance of continuing joint work with international partners to support the development of impactful initiatives, expand cooperation, and contribute to strengthening the position of Emirati women as influential actors in shaping the future of global development. They also expressed their appreciation for the role played by the UAE Embassy in Beijing in supporting and organizing the visit.
