Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the world's largest airport for international passenger traffic in 2024, according to a report released Monday by the Airports Council International (ACI World).
Dubai International Airport ranked second in the overall ranking of the world's busiest airports (international and domestic passenger traffic), after Atlanta International Airport in the United States, while Dallas/Fort Worth Airport ranked third.
The report indicated that global passenger traffic in 2024 will approach 9.5 billion passengers, a 9% increase compared to 2023 and a 3.8% increase compared to pre-COVID-19 levels in 2019. The ten busiest airports, representing 9% of total passenger traffic, recorded an 8.8% growth compared to the previous year in 2023.
Separately, global air cargo recorded an 8.4% growth, reaching more than 124 million metric tons in 2024. Airports Council International Director General Justin Erbacci said, "The world's busiest airports are demonstrating their incredible resilience amid global geopolitical and economic challenges."
