The 44-year-old nurse, who worked at a clinic in the German city of Würselen, is also accused of attempting to murder 34 other patients. German law enforcement authorities have charged a 44-year-old nurse working at a clinic in Würselen with the murder of nine patients and the attempted murder of 34 others, according to the German newspaper Bild.
According to the newspaper, citing the investigation file, the man administered lethal injections to the patients because he wanted "some peace and quiet during his night shift." The man was arrested in July 2024 and charged with 11 counts of attempted murder. In search of evidence, law enforcement officials visited several graves and exhumed at least four bodies.
In mid-February, the public prosecutor's office in the city charged the nurse with five counts of murder and 25 counts of attempted murder. After investigation, the man was charged with four additional murders and nine new attempted murders. According to the investigation, the list of victims included not only terminally ill patients but also individuals whose health had improved and were preparing to be discharged from the hospital.
