 Arab condemnations of the attack on the UAE consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan


Arab countries condemned the attack that targeted the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan. The UAE expressed its "strong condemnation and denunciation of the treacherous terrorist attack by a drone, which targeted the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan, resulting in collateral damage but no injuries."


The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that "targeting diplomatic missions and premises constitutes a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full immunity for diplomatic premises and their personnel, and represents a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional security and stability."


The Ministry also affirmed that "the UAE calls upon the governments of Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan to investigate the circumstances of this attack to identify those responsible and to take all necessary measures to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable."


The UAE stressed its "categorical rejection of such treacherous attacks aimed at destabilizing security and stability, emphasizing the need to protect diplomatic missions and their personnel in accordance with international laws and norms."


The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed the Kingdom's strongest condemnation of the attack on the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan.


In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said: "The Kingdom affirms that the repeated targeting of diplomatic buildings is a clear violation of relevant international norms and laws, including the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, and emphasizes the importance of respecting the inviolability of diplomatic premises."


The Ministry expressed the Kingdom's solidarity with the UAE. Jordan also strongly condemned the attack on the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan. The Ministry also affirmed Jordan's solidarity and unwavering support for the United Arab Emirates.


The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to respect international law and the 1949 Geneva Convention and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their personnel.


In the same vein, Qatar expressed its strong condemnation of the attack, which it considers a reprehensible act that violates international norms and conventions guaranteeing the protection of diplomatic missions and their premises.


The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that targeting diplomatic missions and premises constitutes a breach of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and represents an escalation that threatens the safety and security of diplomatic personnel and undermines internationally recognized diplomatic norms.


The Ministry reiterated Qatar's rejection of all acts of violence and terrorism targeting diplomatic missions or undermining security and stability, affirming its solidarity with the United Arab Emirates.


Iraq also affirmed on Tuesday its firm stance of rejecting any attack targeting diplomatic and consular missions, stressing its commitment to providing them with full protection to ensure they can perform their duties in a safe environment.


The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it "strongly condemns and denounces the attacks targeting diplomatic and consular missions in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and considers these acts reprehensible."
