The UAE National Orchestra Releases a Musical Work in Tribute to the Defenders of the Nation
The UAE National Orchestra has released a new musical work titled "Men, Truly Men," in appreciation of the courage and dedication of the nation's defenders in protecting society.
The UAE National Orchestra released the musical work "Men, Truly Men," with lyrics by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in tribute to the nation's defenders and their courage and dedication in protecting citizens and residents.
The work combines orchestral music with choral voices, presenting the poem by the President of the UAE in a renewed style that highlights its musical dimensions and reflects the bravery and dedication of the defenders in serving and protecting the nation.
The National Orchestra was established to reflect the cultural voice of the UAE and promote the concepts of unity and harmony among its people through music. Cultural expressions are a powerful means of reflecting shared identity and collective feelings of gratitude during times that require the community to stand together and rally around the nation.
The orchestra presents this piece, composed by Mohamed El-Ahmad, in a new orchestral arrangement by composer and arranger Ahmed El-Mougy. The musicians join forces with the orchestral choir to create a musical synthesis that highlights the piece's rhythmic richness and expressive traditions, while incorporating modern orchestral elements that add a fresh musical dimension.
The performance begins with a choral interlude, establishing the rhythmic and vocal framework of the piece, before the full orchestra gradually joins in.
As the piece develops, the orchestra's vocal range intensifies, culminating in the addition of soprano voices that lend a contemplative dimension characterized by depth and harmony to the final section.
Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the UAE National Orchestra, stated that the poem “Men, By God, Men” highlights the values of courage, dedication, and sacrifice embodied by the heroes who protect the nation and its people. She noted that the National Orchestra, through this work, seeks to express the nation’s gratitude to them and reminds us of the influential role culture plays in highlighting our national values and shared identity.
For her part, Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Director General of the UAE National Orchestra, said that the National Orchestra bears the responsibility of expressing the voice of the nation through music, and this message takes on added importance at this time. She pointed out that this work reflects feelings of pride, resilience, and national unity, and offers a sincere tribute to the protectors of the UAE in appreciation of their dedication and courage in defending the homeland and preserving the security of citizens and residents.
Rooted in the rich heritage of Emirati music, and featuring musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, the UAE National Orchestra underscores the role of orchestral music in showcasing the UAE’s identity and its rich cultural fabric.
The concert is available to watch on the UAE National Orchestra’s official digital channels and is accompanied by a video featuring the orchestra and choir performing the piece.
