Signing of the Document on Human Fraternity
The UAE Celebrates the International Day of Human Fraternity
The UAE continues its role in promoting human fraternity through its initiatives to spread the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among different religions and cultures.
The UAE joins the world in celebrating the International Day of Human Fraternity, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the historic event of the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity on February 4, 2019, in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
Since its signing, the Document on Human Fraternity has served as the starting point for numerous UAE initiatives with a global dimension, which embody the spirit of tolerance and coexistence among all religions. Among the most prominent of these is the Abrahamic Family House project on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, which brings together a church, a mosque, and a synagogue under one roof.
The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, since its inception, has been one of the UAE's most prominent initiatives aimed at disseminating and promoting the values of tolerance and human coexistence. The award also holds special symbolic significance as it is associated with the name of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The award celebrates the outstanding work of individuals and organizations from around the world who contribute to promoting noble human values such as peace, coexistence, integrity, helping others, cooperation, and charitable and humanitarian work.
In its seventh edition in 2026, the award honored President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, for the historic peace agreement between their two countries, as well as Zarqa Yaftali, the Afghan advocate for women's education, and the Palestinian humanitarian organization, Taawon.
The UAE annually hosts the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, which addresses the challenges and humanitarian issues facing humanity in today's world, stemming from ideological and sectarian conflicts within Muslim societies.
Coinciding with this occasion, the UAE also organizes the annual Global Conference on Tolerance and Human Fraternity. This year's conference, held under the theme "Human Fraternity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," featured over 180 international speakers and more than 400 religious leaders and thinkers from around the world, including Arabs and Emiratis.
