In 2025, the UAE achieved a wealth of significant accomplishments in the energy, infrastructure, maritime transport, housing, and digital transformation sectors.
These achievements demonstrated the UAE's ability to strike a delicate balance between future planning and tangible implementation, supporting the nation's vision of building a leading development system.
These achievements reflect a government approach based on innovation, efficient performance, and enhancing the quality of life, underscoring the ability to translate national strategies into concrete results that bolster the country's competitiveness.
Outstanding Performance in the Housing Sector
The UAE continued its outstanding performance in the housing sector, with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure issuing 3,567 housing support decisions totaling AED 2.546 billion. These decisions included housing grants, loans, and financing, reflecting the rapid response and flexible policies supporting citizens.
These efforts contributed to an unprecedented achievement: homeownership among UAE citizens reached 91%, one of the highest rates globally. The UAE also won, for the first time, the presidency of the General Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), in addition to its membership on the Programme's Executive Council.
Energy Sector
In the energy sector, 2025 was marked by the launch of the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance, with the participation of more than 40 countries and international organizations. This underscores the UAE's leading role in driving global efforts to reduce consumption and promote efficiency. The year also saw the release of the "State of Energy 2025" report, the UAE's election to the Water Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the launch of a guide for domestic workers in eight languages to promote awareness of rational consumption.
The implementation of the National Energy and Water Demand Side Management Program 2050 reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to reducing energy demand by 42% to 45% through initiatives encompassing industry, agriculture, infrastructure, and transportation.
Infrastructure and Transportation
The UAE has given special attention to the infrastructure and transportation sector; The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has prepared a national agenda to address traffic congestion, which includes projects to improve mobility between the emirates, valued at over AED 170 billion by 2030.
The UAE aims to increase the efficiency of federal roads by 73% over the next five years through the development and upgrading of Emirates Road at a cost of AED 750 million, increasing the capacity of Al Ittihad Road by 60%, and increasing the capacity of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road by 45%. It is also studying the construction of a fourth federal road, 120 kilometers long, with a capacity of up to 360,000 trips per day.

Future Transformation
Regarding future transformation, last year saw the completion of five major transformative projects, including humanizing buildings and transforming them into healthy environments that support well-being, developing green oases, green industrial transformation, sustainable irrigation for farms, and electric vehicle battery recycling.
The UAE strengthened its global maritime presence by hosting the event held in conjunction with World Maritime Day and launching the National Maritime Center, in addition to being re-elected for the fifth consecutive time to the International Maritime Organization's Category B membership.
Last year, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure won 41 local, regional, and international awards and obtained 19 ISO certifications, reflecting the development of its administrative systems and the quality of its operations.
The Ministry held 30 customer council meetings across the UAE and signed 26 agreements and memoranda of understanding to expand partnerships, exchange expertise, and enhance the impact of national projects. The year 2025 also saw the launch of the first integrated digital center for government services in Fujairah.
Strategic Projects
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stated that 2025 witnessed tangible progress in the implementation of strategic projects, reflecting the wise leadership's vision of building a more efficient and sustainable integrated system capable of supporting economic growth and improving quality of life.
He added that the Ministry's efforts focused on enhancing the readiness of federal infrastructure, raising the efficiency of the energy system, and developing advanced housing solutions that meet citizens' needs and future aspirations.
