Ras Al Khaimah Sets New Guinness World Record to Celebrate the New Year

The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah welcomed the year 2026 with a spectacular 15-minute fireworks and drone display. The Emirate set a new Guinness World Record in the category of "Largest Flying Phoenix Formed by Multi-Rotor Drones."

The phoenix, a symbol of renewal, optimism, and renaissance, was chosen to celebrate the spirit of progress, prosperity, and ambition that characterizes Ras Al Khaimah and its aspirations for a bright future.

The display featured 2,300 drones, including 1,000 advanced drones equipped with fireworks and lasers that illuminated the wings of the phoenix in a breathtaking display as it flew over Ras Al Khaimah's waterfront.

The show featured another stunning drone formation titled “Welcome,” which depicted a human figure rising from the sea with outstretched arms, symbolizing the emirate’s warm, open, and welcoming spirit.

Following the drone display, a dazzling fireworks display unfolded along a six-kilometer stretch from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra, culminating in a countdown to midnight.

Hundreds of fireworks launched in synchronized waves along the coastline, and thousands of spectators at Ras Al Khaimah’s beachfront resorts and New Year’s Eve festival visitors enjoyed a variety of live performances and festive celebrations. Residents also enjoyed an earlier fireworks display on Al Qawasim Corniche.

Philippa Harrison, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said on this occasion, “The New Year’s Eve celebration in Ras Al Khaimah is witnessing a surge in popularity year after year, which motivates us to offer a truly inclusive celebration for both the community and visitors to the emirate.”

She added that setting a new Guinness World Record is a significant achievement, noting that 2025 was a year of great progress for Ras Al Khaimah, and that this evening was the culmination of those achievements and a welcome to the new year with optimism and enthusiasm for the future.

With this new Guinness World Record achievement, Ras Al Khaimah continues to enhance its impressive record of record-breaking performances, reaffirming its position as a leading global destination for innovative New Year's celebrations
