The UAE Aid the Children of Gaza: Unstoppable Humanitarian Initiatives
The UAE continues to launch comprehensive humanitarian initiatives to provide relief to the residents of the Gaza Strip, with a special focus on children, amid the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel since October 2023.
The UAE's initiatives represent messages of humanitarian solidarity and fraternal support for the Palestinian people and embody the UAE leadership's commitment to alleviating the suffering of civilians and caring for generations affected by the repercussions of the war.
Save the Child Hatem
Among the most recent of these initiatives, Operation "Gallant Knight 3" medically evacuated a child from Gaza who had sustained severe injuries, including second- and third-degree burns across multiple areas of his body. He was then evacuated to hospitals in the UAE, as part of the UAE's efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza due to the ongoing war in the Strip.
Three-year-old Hatem Awad tells a tragic story that represents the suffering of thousands of children in Gaza. An airstrike on his area left him with severe second- and third-degree burns across his body. His tragedy did not stop there, however, as he lost his entire family, leaving him alone to struggle with his profound physical and psychological pain.
In this context, Dr. Abdul Qader Al Musabi, Executive Medical Director of Shakhbout Medical City, said that Hatem arrived at the city a few days ago as part of Operation Gallant Knight 3. He noted that a comprehensive treatment plan was developed for the child's condition, and that there has been significant and noticeable progress in his health since the start of treatment.
The evacuation was carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the child's safety throughout the journey and until he arrived at Shakhbout Medical City to receive the necessary treatment.
This initiative reflects the UAE's commitment and its unwavering humanitarian approach to standing by the Palestinian people, alleviating their suffering, and providing care for those affected by wars and disasters, especially innocent children.
Treating 1,000 Palestinian Children
This comes as the UAE continues to implement the initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to treat 1,000 injured Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip in UAE hospitals.
As part of the implementation of these initiatives, the UAE, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, operated a new evacuation flight on May 14 from Ramon Airport in Israel via the Kerem Shalom crossing. The flight included 101 patients accompanied by 87 family members.
This batch brings the total number of patients and their companions to 2,634, reflecting the UAE's commitment to providing the necessary medical care to our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Initiatives that embody the UAE's commitment to supporting our Palestinian brothers and sisters in the Gaza Strip and alleviating their suffering include treating wounded Palestinian children and cancer patients. This comes after the significant deterioration of the health sector, which has become unable to provide the minimum level of healthcare needed for the injured.
This is also possible through the humanitarian operation "Gallant Knight 3." Emirati hospitals provide the highest levels of healthcare to wounded children and cancer patients, embodying the directives of the UAE leadership.
These initiatives embody the UAE's approach and historical commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and alleviating the severity of the humanitarian crisis they face, especially among the most vulnerable groups, most notably children, who constitute nearly half of the Gaza Strip's population (over one million children). This comes within the framework of the UAE's unwavering brotherly stance towards our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
A Humanitarian Epic
Emirati efforts continue as part of a political and humanitarian epic led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to support Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
As part of these latest efforts, a new Emirati aid ship carrying 2,100 tons of various relief supplies arrived in Gaza about 10 days ago. This aid is part of the UAE's ongoing efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Strip's residents, who are experiencing dire humanitarian conditions.
The ship is carrying various food aid, including large quantities of flour, as well as other parcels and supplies for children and women, along with aid to meet urgent humanitarian needs, with the aim of alleviating the living conditions of the residents of the Gaza Strip.
