UAE hits record growth in tourism industry

UAE leads regional and global tourism sector

Experts confirm the UAE’s leadership in the global tourism sector is the result of years of dedicated effort, transforming challenges into economic opportunities. They explained to Aletihad that the key factors include security, exceptional infrastructure, and strong public-private partnerships.

The UAE’s national tourism sector excels in global indicators, making it a premier tourist destination.

The UAE’s National Tourism Strategy 2031 aims to attract 40 million hotel guests and boost the tourism sector’s GDP contribution to Dh450 billion. The UAE has topped regional and international indicators since early 2023, according to the World Economic Forum’s Tourism destDevelopment Report, including international tourist spending, tourism investments, and the aviation sector.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, highlighted the UAE’s positive results and growth in various tourism indicators. Yas Island saw over 34 million visits, a 38% increase from 2022, while Saadiyat Island visits increased by 44%. Entertainment cities on Yas Island recorded a 96% increase in visits during July and August 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.

Nasser Al Nowais, Chairman of Rotana Hotels, attributed the UAE’s tourism success to significant promotional efforts, continuous investment, and attracting major international events.

The UAE ranked 18th globally in the Travel and Tourism Development Report 2024, a rise of seven places from 2022, maintaining its position as the top destination in the Middle East and North Africa.

With an expected 29.2 million international tourists in 2024, the UAE’s travel and tourism sector is set to contribute Dh236.4 billion to the GDP, reflecting the sector’s substantial growth and international appeal.
