King Abdullah II of Jordan and President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday stressed the need to intensify efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
At a meeting in Amman, King Abdullah and the UAE president stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to protect civilians, and ensure the continuous and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid to the people in the Strip, according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court.
Both leaders warned against the repercussions of continuing the conflict in Gaza, exacerbating the catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
The two sides renewed their full support for the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate rights, emphasizing that the only way to restore security and stability in the region is through launching a political process to reach a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution.
King Abdullah emphasized the importance of the international community's continued support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) to enable it to provide vital humanitarian services as mandated by the UN, given the tragic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Jordan praised the efforts of the UAE in supporting the people in Gaza, providing continuous humanitarian and medical aid, and diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire.
The meeting also covered bilateral relations and opportunities to expand cooperation in all fields.
