UAE, Jordan Discuss Cooperation

Jordan’s King Abdullah on Wednesday met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi, as part of a Gulf tour that also includes Bahrain and Qatar, WAM reported.

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed relations between their two countries as well as ways to strengthen strategic cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, investment, industry, and food security, the report added.

Several cooperation deals between the UAE and Jordan have been announced during the king’s visit, and at Wednesday’s meeting Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah witnessed the signing of two memorandums of understanding worth $6 billion aimed at further strengthening collaboration and sustainable development.

The agreements included one between Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Co. and the Jordan Investment Fund, and another concerning a grant from the UAE government to finance development projects in Jordan.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said the UAE-Jordan relationship was built on a mutual trust, understanding, and respect dating back to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan and King Hussein bin Talal, adding that both nations had shared values and goals.
