Secretary General of the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet, Satya Tripathi said that the UAE's hosting of COP28, kicking off from November 30 to December 12, confirms the UAE's pioneering role in leading global transformation.
“The UAE today represents an inspiring model for many similar economies around the world. Though an oil country, its current economic model relying heavily on non-oil economy and the shift towards a green economy through significant investment in energy sources and circular economy, confirms its ability to bring about change, and to become a catalyst model for other economies to move towards a sustainable economy”, Tripathi added.
The Secretary-General of the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet (GASP) said that COP28 will bring many gains for all, as it embodies the extent of the global commitment to continue addressing climate challenges, and what we can do in terms of cooperation and joint efforts, in addition to highlighting the efforts of the host country to demonstrate its vision in climate action, and the pursuit of carbon neutrality.
Regarding GASP’s vision for the UAE's climate action efforts, Tripathi pointed out that "in addition to the UAE's resources, the country also has the determination to play a key, prominent and influential role in climate action manifested in its voluntary bid to host COP28. I believe that the conference will be a great opportunity for the UAE, not only to present an exceptional version of the Conference but also to provide an inspiring model in terms of drawing lessons, making change and building partnerships".
