The national strategy for quality of life is based on a national framework that includes 3 main levels “individuals, society and the state” and includes 14 axes and 9 strategic goals.
Goals include enhancing the lifestyle of individuals by encouraging the adoption of a healthy and active lifestyle, promoting good mental health, adopting positive thinking as a basic value and building life skills.
The strategy, with its axes and initiatives, consolidates the foundations of a cohesive society by enhancing the quality of interdependence and social relations in the family and society, enhancing the quality of digital life, encouraging positive and purposeful digital societies, adopting quality of life in learning and working environments.
The UAE was ranked first in the Arab world and 30 globally in the “Best Countries in the World for Quality of Life for 2021” index, which was published last June by the American magazine “CEO World”. The UAE’s score in quality of life on the index reached 83.79 out of 100, surpassing China (37), Malaysia (41) and Russia (43).
Three international references specialized in monitoring international competitiveness figures ranked the UAE among the top 20 globally in 12 indicators of social development and quality of life during the year 2020.
In the quality of life indicators, the country was ranked 15th according to the World Competitiveness Yearbook, as well as the same rank according to the Global Talent Report issued by the International Institute for Management Development.
The country also ranked 15th globally in the sector of social mobility, as monitored by the report of the Global Talent Competitiveness Index issued by INSEAD.
It ranked 17th in the highest income-adjusted Gini coefficient index according to the Sustainable Development Goals Index issued by the Bertelman Steven Foundation and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
The National Strategy for Quality of Life 2031 aims to move the UAE from the concept of a good life only to the comprehensive concept of integrated quality of life, which contributes to supporting the UAE Vision 2021 and achieving the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071.
