The UAE has been positioned among the world's top five best destinations, jumping 10 places to be ranked the fourth-best place in the world to live and work, according to a new survey released by HSBC.
As an accelerated Covid-19 vaccine campaign and a rebounding economy, the UAE has attracted more foreign workers to the country. Due to better overall quality of life than their home country, about six out of every 10 expats said they intend to stay longer for that reason.
About 82% of residents surveyed in the UAE feel optimistic that life will be more stable and return to normal in the next 12 months. 53% are also expecting an increase in their income, while 57% are expecting a better work life balance, according to HSBC.
In comparison, 75% of respondents on average globally were optimistic about life returning to normal in the next 12 months, the survey found.
“The UAE being billed among the top five best places to live and work globally is inspiring and a clear indication of the huge potential that drives this country’s economy,” said Abdulfattah Sharaf, chief executive of HSBC UAE and head of international.
The country's focus on innovation, infrastructure, quality of life, diversity and inclusion has made it the destination of choice for businesses and professionals looking to grow and prosper, ”added Abdulfattah.
HSBC’s Expat Explorer 2021 is the latest edition of the bank’s long-running study that covers more than 20,000 expatriates. It seeks to examine the lives of those who have relocated abroad, offering insights into what expat living is like.
A separate survey by global network InterNations in May this year ranked the UAE 18th out of 59 destinations in the world for overseas workers to work and live abroad.
