Egyptian Companies Export 133,000 Tons of Foodstuffs in a Week


The National Food Safety Authority announced that the number of food shipments exported last week reached 3,150, representing an estimated 133,000 tons, exported by 1,115 companies.


In its report for the period from June 21 to 27, the Authority stated that potatoes topped the list of Egyptian exported vegetables, with a total of 10,000 tons, followed by onions with approximately 6,000 tons, and then frozen mixed vegetables with 5,000 tons. The number of exported vegetable varieties reached 50, with a total of 35,000 tons.


Regarding fruits, the Authority stated that fresh grapes and strawberries topped the list last week, with a total of 13,000 tons each, followed by citrus fruits with a total of 6,000 tons. This brings the number of exported fruit varieties to 30, with a total of 35,000 tons. The report added that Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey, and the United States topped the list of countries receiving Egyptian food exports last week, out of 191 importing countries.


Regarding food shipments arriving into the country, the number reached 1,666, with a total quantity estimated at approximately 213,000 tons, imported by 800 companies. The items included wheat, various oils, and soybeans. Ukraine topped the list of countries exporting to Egypt, followed by the United States, Russia, and Indonesia, out of 70 countries.
