ADNOC Distribution Launches Largest Super-Fast Charging Complex
UAE Launches World’s Sixth Largest Super-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Complex
ADNOC Distribution has launched the world’s sixth largest super-fast electric vehicle charging complex and unveiled its future plan to establish a fast-charging network in the UAE by the end of 2027.
This coincides with the start of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, where world leaders are gathering to discuss the future of sustainable energy and infrastructure. It reflects the ADNOC Group’s commitment to shaping sustainable energy solutions by leveraging intelligence and innovation to maximize positive impact for today and the future.
Located in the Saih Shuaib area on Emirates Road (E11) between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the massive electric vehicle charging complex features 60 super-fast charging points capable of charging most electric vehicles from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes.
This complex is the largest in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey region, and the sixth largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging complex in the world. It represents a key strategic step in supporting ADNOC Distribution’s ambitious plan to develop a world-class electric vehicle charging infrastructure along the UAE’s highway network.
Based on this ambitious vision, ADNOC Distribution plans to open 20 electric vehicle fast-charging complexes by the end of 2027, with 15 of them expected to open by the end of 2026, along major national highways. This will enable electric vehicles to travel easily over long distances and support the UAE’s goals for smart and sustainable mobility.
Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, said: “The inauguration of ADNOC Distribution’s ultra-fast charging station for electric vehicles is a significant step in implementing the National Electric Vehicle Policy and enhancing our vision for sustainable mobility across the UAE.
He added: “By unifying efforts to expand the high-speed charging network, we are working to reduce energy consumption in the transportation sector and support the transformative project (a global market for electric vehicles), which aims to increase the percentage of electric vehicles to 50 percent of the total vehicles in the country by 2050. This will also accelerate the transition to a green transportation system, further solidifying the UAE’s leadership in smart and environmentally friendly transportation.”
The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has set an ambitious target of increasing the proportion of electric vehicles to 50 percent of the total vehicles on the country’s roads by 2050, in line with national sustainability goals.
In this context, ADNOC Distribution continues to accelerate the realization of this vision through its leading network, E2GO, one of the largest electric vehicle charging operators in the UAE, currently boasting over 400 charging points with plans to reach 750 by 2028.
The launch of the electric vehicle charging complex is a significant step, coinciding with the opening of the first destination under the "The Hub by ADNOC" concept, specifically designed to meet the needs of intercity travelers.
With a footprint three times the size of a conventional service station, "The Hub by ADNOC" combines refueling, electric vehicle charging, and car care services with lifestyle options, offering a comprehensive destination that combines convenience with a premium experience.
The new location on Emirates Road reinforces its focus on serving travelers, being the first of its kind to include a co-working space, providing customers with a comfortable and practical environment to work and connect while commuting between the UAE's two largest cities. This concept forms a cornerstone of ADNOC Distribution's strategy to redefine roadside retail and deliver future-oriented journeys that cater to everyone's needs.
ADNOC Distribution continues to invest in innovative mobility solutions to meet growing demand. A plan is in place to expand its highway charging centers and future projects to meet current needs and ensure future growth, in line with the UAE’s goals for electric vehicle adoption. With a network of more than 560 locations across the UAE – the largest in the country – ADNOC Distribution is well-positioned to expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure efficiently and sustainably.
