China Seeks to Strengthen Oil and Gas Ties with the UAE
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, yesterday in Abu Dhabi and pledged to enhance cooperation with the Gulf state in the areas of investment, oil and gas, and infrastructure.
Wang began a three-nation tour of the Middle East yesterday. "China is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the UAE, consolidate mutual political trust, and elevate bilateral relations," Wang said, according to Reuters.
With significant growth in economic relations between the two countries, trade between the UAE and China is expected to reach $200 billion by 2030, according to Emirati government data.
