A Computer Without a Processor.. NexDock Unveils a Laptop Powered Entirely by Your Smartphone for $229
At a time when flagship smartphones are capable of delivering performance comparable to traditional computers, NexDock has unveiled its latest device, redefining the concept of the laptop. The new NexDock 6 is not a laptop in the traditional sense, as it comes without a processor and relies entirely on the power of a smartphone or mobile gaming device to operate.
NexDock is targeting users who want a desktop-like experience, taking advantage of the desktop modes offered by some phones, such as Samsung's flagship phones with DeX or Google's latest Pixel phones, according to a report published by Gizmochina.
Larger Screen and Improved User Experience
The NexDock 6's standout feature is its new 14-inch WUXGA display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It supports touch input, boasts a brightness of up to 400 nits, and offers full sRGB color gamut coverage, along with a dedicated blue light reduction coating.
The company has also completely redesigned the touchpad to address one of the biggest weaknesses of previous models. According to NexDock, the new touchpad provides more precise responsiveness, better support for multi-touch gestures, and significantly improved accidental touch ignoring, whether using Android, Windows, Linux, or SteamOS.
Powerful Battery and Practical Features
The audio system has received a minor upgrade, now featuring two 2-watt speakers. The 38Wh battery provides approximately 6 to 7 hours of typical use at moderate brightness.
Charging support is one of the most practical additions, as the USB-C port can charge a connected phone at up to 5V/2A. This means the phone can maintain its charge or even gain power while in use, unlike the previous generation which offered weaker charging.
Price and Availability
The NexDock 6 is priced at $229, including shipping and taxes in supported countries. It currently ships from Hong Kong to over 30 countries worldwide, including the US, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. The company confirmed that domestic stock in the US will arrive in early 2026. With this launch, NexDock continues to bet on the concept of a "laptop without a processor," targeting users looking for a practical and lightweight solution that relies on only one device: a smartphone.
