Zahi Hawass Confirmed the Discovery.. A New 30-Meter-Long Passage Inside the Great Pyramid of Giza
The renowned Egyptologist Zahi Hawass announced that Egypt will unveil a major archaeological discovery inside the Great Pyramid of Giza next year, 2026. During a panel discussion at the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair in the UAE, Hawass stated that the new discovery is "a great archaeological find that will write a new chapter in the history of the pharaohs." He explained that it is a new 30-meter-long passageway detected using advanced equipment.
During the session, the Egyptian scholar provided a detailed scientific explanation of how the pyramids were built, outlining the engineering and construction methods employed by the ancient Egyptians. He refuted unscientific theories claiming the involvement of extraterrestrial beings or supernatural forces in their construction.
During the meeting, Hawass discussed the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as "one of the greatest museums in the world," as it houses more than five thousand artifacts from the treasures of King Tutankhamun, displayed in their entirety for the first time. He also reviewed the modern technologies currently used to examine and clean the pyramid entrances with advanced robots, which has allowed his team to access areas previously inaccessible.
At the end of the session, Dr. Zahi Hawass addressed his efforts to repatriate Egyptian antiquities from museums around the world, emphasizing that this issue is not merely a national concern, but rather "a historical and cultural right that must be restored." He mentioned his attempts to borrow prominent Egyptian artifacts such as the bust of Nefertiti, the Rosetta Stone, and the Planetarium, despite facing rejection from some museums.
