US Congressional delegation visits the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side

A US Congressional delegation traveled to the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side to examine the obstacles to the movement of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. North Sinai Governor Khaled Megawer briefed the US delegation on Egypt's efforts to contain the situation in the Gaza Strip and allow the entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the Strip.

The US delegation inspected the Egyptian Red Crescent's logistical warehouses in Arish. During their inspection of the crossing, members of the US delegation condemned the extent of the destruction inside the Gaza Strip that they witnessed from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing and the obstruction of aid entry, which constitutes a crime of genocide against Palestinians.

Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Concerns Committee, said he hoped this war would end. He confirmed that during his visit to the Rafah crossing, he heard the sound of violent explosions inside the Strip. In addition to Van Hollen, the delegation included Senator Jeff Merkley, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, and US Ambassador to Cairo Hiro Mustafa Garg.
