 Real Madrid Announces Mbappé's Hospitalization

Real Madrid's French striker Kylian Mbappé has been released from hospital after suffering from acute gastroenteritis, his club announced on Thursday.

"Our player Kylian Mbappé was released from the hospital this afternoon and has returned to the Real Madrid training camp," the club said in a statement. "Mbappé will continue to receive specific medical treatment and will gradually return to team activities."

Real Madrid had previously confirmed the French star's hospitalization, saying, "Our player Kylian Mbappé is suffering from acute gastroenteritis and has been taken to the hospital to undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate treatment." Mbappé missed his team's opening match of the Club World Cup, a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal on Wednesday. This was new Spanish coach Xabi Alonso's first match in charge.

When asked about the condition of his 26-year-old striker after the Al Hilal match, Alonso replied, "I don't know if Mbappé will return for the next match. We'll see." "He hasn't been feeling well for the past two days. He's sick," he continued.Real Madrid reserve team player Gonzalo Garcia, 21, started the final game in place of Mbappé and opened the scoring for the Spanish capital club against the Saudi club.

Mbappé finished his first season with Los Blancos as the club's top scorer, scoring 31 goals in La Liga and winning the European Golden Shoe. However, he was unable to lead his team to any major title, finishing second in La Liga behind arch-rivals Barcelona.
