A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) paid a recent visit to the Ahl Masr Trauma and Burn Hospital in Cairo to follow up on the operation of the AED2.7 million worth of medical equipment donated by the ERC.
The equipment is intended to boost the hospital's capacity in preparation for its official opening in February 2024.
Ahl Masr Hospital is a beacon of hope for burn victims in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa, being the first specialised centre offering free treatment and research in the region.
The ERC initiative to support the hospital's medical and therapeutic services was announced during the seventh edition of the "Zayed Charity Run" that was held in Alexandria in 2022.
The ERC delegation toured many of the hospital's departments, visited many of the wards, and inspected the emergency departments and operating rooms.
The ERC's support reflects the UAE’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of vulnerable communities and underscores the strong ties between the UAE and Egypt in addressing humanitarian, health, and development needs.
Ahl Masr Hospital was designed with a capacity of 200 beds, and it consists of six floors in addition to two air ambulance landings to ensure the speed of transferring patients to the hospital.
The hospital has an emergency department that can be converted into an intensive care unit that receives up to 30 cases.
