Hero welcome for UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi

Sultan AlNeyadi returns home to UAE

After spending 186 days in space, the Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi finally returned home to the United Arab Emirates.

The Emirati astronaut who deployed to spend six months aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in March 2023 received a “hero’s welcome” from his homeland and its people.

He said that he is returning to the homeland to hand over the responsibility of the flag to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the UAE President as well as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President of UAE and the ruler of Dubai.

Al-Neyadi wrote, in his account on the “X” website (formerly Twitter), “Over the past 6 months, I have carried the UAE in my heart".

He added: "Now, I am back in the heart of our nation. I return as a son to present the flag of our nation to @MohamedBinZayed and @HHShkMohd. I return to a land full of ambition, to continue our journey of exploration together".

UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi has set his eyes on the Moon next, he revealed during the grand welcome accorded to him by his proud country on his triumphant homecoming after the longest Arab space mission on Monday.
