From London to Casablanca, the Moroccan diaspora hail their team's achievement in qualifying for the first knockout round.
Morocco secured a ticket to the World Cup knockout stages as group winners This ended a 36-year heartbreak for the Atlas Lions, who are the first African team to top a group since Nigeria in 1998 The nation’s coach Walid Regragui believes African nations can set their sights on the trophy itself after their feat.
Morocco coach Walid Regragui says there is a need for African countries to change their mentality when it comes to the World Cup. The Atlas Lions have been the most impressive African nation so far in the tournament after topping their group which consisted of heavy hitters like Belgium and Croatia.
Morocco went through group F unbeaten, after a goalless draw with Croatia in their opening game coupled with wins over Belgium and Canada. Regragui was on post-match media duty alongside Achraf Hakimi, who was man of the match in the 2-1 win over Canada.
Morocco have earned their place in the next round after standing toe-to-toe with two of the top sides anywhere in the world in Belgium - ranked second by FIFA - and a Croatian side that reached the final four years ago in Russia.
Yet, there is no telling if Morocco can go on to make history and reach the quarterfinals for the first time, but rest assured, they are where they are on merit, no matter what the data tells you.
