Qatar made no concessions to end blockade

The Arab quartet severed ties with Qatar in 2017, faulting Doha’s favorable stance towards Iran, accusing it of supporting “terrorism” due to its backing of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, while claiming that Doha was sowing regional instability.

They called on Doha to downgrade its ties with Tehran and cease its support for the Islamic groups, a well as other excessive demands, which Qatar rejected as an attack on its sovereignty.

The content of the reconciliation accord between Qatar and the blockading nations was not disclosed, but Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said Riyadh and its three allies agreed to restore full relations with Doha, including the resumption of flights.

Yet, It remains unclear what concessions Qatar made to encourage Egypt and its allies to end their blockade. The summit communique gave no details, only speaking about a general pledge of solidarity.

Qatar has reaffirmed the importance of maintaining its relations with Iran and Turkey, despite its plan to reconcile with Saudi Arabia and its regional allies, which urged Doha to downgrade its ties with Tehran.

Now, it is clear that restoring full diplomatic ties would take time and depended on Qatar's future dealings with Iran, Turkey and Islamic extremist groups.
