From human rights activist to accused: Investigations in Egypt into harassment incidents
The Public Prosecution in Egypt announced the commencement of investigations into the case of a man accused of sexually assaulting several girls.
In its statement, the Public Prosecution said that, in light of what was monitored by the Office for the Protection of Children, Persons with Disabilities, and the Elderly within the Public Prosecution regarding the publication of incidents attributed to a man, including accusations of sexually assaulting four girls, the Public Prosecution initiated its investigations and heard the statements of the complainants and the victims.
The prosecution added that three of the victims testified that they were subjected to sexual assault in different locations, including an unlicensed premises belonging to a non-profit organization in the Garden City area, between 2022 and 2025. A fourth girl testified that she was sexually assaulted in 2017.
He exploited his victims' circumstances.
The victims' testimonies revealed that they had sought the accused's help and support, given the social and psychological circumstances they had endured, dominated by domestic violence. He exploited this situation to commit these acts.
The prosecution also heard the testimony of an employee at the organization's premises, who stated that he noticed the accused dismissing him from work early or requiring him to come in late on several occasions to facilitate the commission of these acts.
The prosecution interrogated the accused, who confessed to committing some of the acts. His phone and electronic devices were examined, and the police investigation and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit's findings were included in the case file. The investigation is ongoing.

Protecting the Privacy of Victims and Witnesses
The Public Prosecution announced that it has initiated investigations within a framework of necessary confidentiality, ensuring the protection of the privacy of the victims and witnesses, in accordance with the law.
The Public Prosecution urged media outlets and individuals not to publish or circulate any data or information that could reveal the identity of the victims or witnesses, or enable others to identify them, emphasizing that it will take the prescribed legal measures against anyone who violates the provisions of the law.
The case dates back to last February, when Egyptian lawyer Nesma El-Khatib filed official reports with the Public Prosecution against the author of the TV series "Fakhr El-Delta," accusing him of harassing two girls.
She confirmed that she legally represents the two girls and filed the reports on their behalf. El-Khatib explained that her legal action was based on the testimonies of other girls who said they had been subjected to similar incidents and had published their stories using a hashtag bearing the name of the accused author on Facebook.

Luring and Assault
Following this action, shocking testimonies poured in on social media under a hashtag bearing the author's name. More than 17 young men and women shared their accounts, detailing how the accused lured them and sexually assaulted them in brutal ways, exploiting their reliance on him and his organization for psychological support and assistance after various incidents of domestic violence.
Several actresses also published messages from the accused, in which he attempted to get to know them or lure them to various events, but they did not respond. This sparked considerable controversy on social media, especially since the accused presented himself as an activist in the field of human rights, combating harassment, and supporting victims of such incidents.
After the victims' testimonies continued to emerge, and following the airing of the third episode of the "Pride of the Delta" series during Ramadan, the production company issued a statement announcing the temporary removal of the accused author's name from the show's credits pending the completion of the ongoing investigations.
