The UAE Welcomes US Secretary of State's Statements on Sudan

UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, welcomed the statements made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding Sudan. Rubio emphasized that the immediate goal is to halt hostilities as the new year begins, enabling humanitarian organizations to deliver aid throughout the country.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan commended Rubio's remarks on the importance of advancing the humanitarian de-escalation process and alleviating the escalating suffering of the Sudanese people.

He stressed that an immediate ceasefire and ensuring safe and unhindered humanitarian access are top priorities for protecting civilians and responding to urgent humanitarian needs. These measures pave the way for a political process leading to an independent civilian transition that fulfills the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and peace.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also reiterated the UAE's firm commitment to working with the Quartet, led by the United States. He affirmed that an immediate ceasefire will bolster the Quartet's ongoing efforts to support the aspirations of the Sudanese people for a sustainable civilian political solution that prioritizes their interests above all else.
