Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, condemned the campaigns against the UAE, noting that they ignore the internal circumstances of the situations they address and describing them as fruitless.

In a post on his Twitter account, Gargash stated that the UAE "is not the one carrying the Sudanese people's desire for peace and civilian rule; rather, it is the Sudanese people's demand." He added that "the UAE is not the one calling for the right to self-determination in South Sudan; rather, it is the will of its people."

Gargash emphasized that the UAE "does not seek leadership or influence, but rather works with its partners for a stable, prosperous region free from extremism." Last week, Gargash called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, stressing that the ethnically based killings taking place in the country constitute "heinous crimes that necessitate accountability and justice."

Anwar Gargash denied that the UAE had provided any military support to the warring parties in Sudan. He added, "I believe the UAE has been consistent in its position on weapons; we have not transferred any weapons to the warring parties in Sudan since the beginning of the civil war."

UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh

UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh emphasized the priority of pursuing an immediate humanitarian truce in Sudan. During a press conference, Nusseibeh stated, "We are in regular consultations regarding the horrific conflict underway in Sudan, and we welcome the European Parliament's resolution supporting mediation efforts in Sudan.

We also welcome the outcome of the meeting of European foreign ministers, who concluded by reaffirming the priority of mediation efforts to achieve an immediate humanitarian truce in Sudan, followed by a permanent ceasefire, and then a transition to an independent civilian government in Sudan."

She stressed that this is the essential basis for the mediation efforts, which the UAE fully supports, and that they are meeting regularly with their European counterparts regarding the terms of the truce.
