BP Announces New Gas Well Startup in Egypt
BP announced the startup of the RW5 well, adding 80 million cubic feet per day of gas to the West Nile Delta project in Egypt.
In a statement released Sunday, the company said this comes in conjunction with increased production from the RW4 well, bringing the total production from the two new wells to approximately 140 million cubic feet per day since the beginning of the year.
Nader Zaki, BP's Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, said: "This production is part of our additional well program in the Raven field, which is part of our efforts to support Egypt's vision to meet domestic energy demand, as well as to strengthen BP's growth strategy in the region."
According to the statement, BP recently contracted the deepwater offshore drilling rig "Valaris DS-12" to drill five development and exploration wells in the Mediterranean Sea. Drilling is expected to begin in April 2026 and aims to add new production during the summer of next year. BP, the operator of the West Nile Delta facilities, owns an 82.75% stake, while Harbor Energy owns 17.25%.
