The European Union.. We Want to Participate in the Transitional Authority in Gaza

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaya Kallas, announced that the bloc is willing to participate in the transitional authority in Gaza, included in US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Strip.

In response to a question about whether the EU was willing to participate in the "Peace Council" that Trump will chair, Kallas said: "Yes, we believe that Europe has a major role to play." Kallas confirmed the EU's "readiness to be part of the council proposed by the Trump plan."

The Trump plan calls for an end to the Gaza war and the development of a plan for economic development and reconstruction. The plan's outline states that "many well-considered investment proposals have already been formulated."

According to the plan, a "peace council" of international supervisors, led by Trump himself and including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, will govern the Gaza Strip. The plan stipulates that a transitional committee of "non-political technocrats" composed of Palestinians and international experts, overseen by the "peace council," will govern the Strip. This group will establish the framework and finance the redevelopment of Gaza until the Palestinian Authority undergoes major reforms.

Trump's economic development plan for Gaza's reconstruction will be developed through the formation of a committee of experts "who helped establish some of the Middle East's most modern, thriving, and miraculous cities."

The Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh will host indirect meetings on Monday between an Israeli delegation and a Hamas delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayya, amid US pressure to conclude an agreement leading to an end to the war on the Gaza Strip, which has now completed its second year.
