Egyptian Stock Exchange posts weekly gains of over EGP 46 billion


The Egyptian Stock Exchange continued its weekly gains despite a decline in total trading value during the current week's trading. The market capitalization of listed companies recorded a weekly gain of 1.7%, with gains of EGP 46.2 billion, after closing the week at EGP 2.738 trillion.


The market capitalization of the main index rose by 0.8%, rising from EGP 1.450 trillion to EGP 1.462 trillion. The market capitalization of the small and mid-cap index also increased from EGP 687.7 billion to EGP 701.3 billion, a growth rate of 2%. The market capitalization of the broader index increased from EGP 2.138 trillion to EGP 2.163 trillion, a growth rate of 1.2%.


On the indices front, the Egyptian Exchange's main index, the EGX 30, rose by 0.03%, closing at 37,687 points. The EGX 70 Equal-Weighted Index of Small and Medium-Sized Caps rose by 3.65%, closing at 12,079 points. 


The EGX 100 Equal-Weighted Index registered a 3.07% increase, closing at 15,836 points. The EGX 30 Capped Index registered a 0.31% increase, closing at 46,292 points. The Tamyaz Index declined by 0.05%, closing at 15,978 points.


The total trading value for the week declined to EGP 373.2 billion, while trading volume reached approximately 10.292 billion shares executed through 731,000 transactions, compared to a total trading value of EGP 374 billion. 


Trading volume reached 10.321 billion securities executed through 662,000 transactions during last week's trading. Stocks accounted for 8.86% of the total trading value on the floor, while bonds and treasury bills accounted for approximately 91.14%.


The total trading volume for companies listed on the Egyptian Exchange indices was distributed as follows: EGP 11 billion for the shares of the main index, with a trading volume of 773.8 million securities executed through 172,200 transactions. 


The trading value of the EGX 70 Index reached approximately EGP 12.6 billion, with a trading volume of 5.1 billion securities executed through 294,500 transactions. The trading value of the EGX 100 Index reached approximately EGP 23.6 billion, with a trading volume of 5.8 billion securities executed through 466,700 transactions.
