UAE-Egypt Calls for a Ceasefire in Gaza and a Two-State Solution


The United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt called for intensified efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as to find a clear political horizon for a just peace based on the "two-state solution," which would ensure stability and security for all, according to the Emirates News Agency.


UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi discussed regional developments and ways to restore security and stability. During the meeting, they stressed the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between the UAE and Egypt on everything that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and enhances stability, security, and peace to achieve development and prosperity for all peoples of the region.


According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the meeting discussed regional developments and ways to restore security and stability in the region. Both sides emphasized the need to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza in the necessary quantities without hindrance, to save the people of the Strip from the dire humanitarian conditions. They also emphasized the need to continue efforts to achieve a two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace and comprehensive stability in the region.


For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed praised Egypt's ongoing efforts since the beginning of the crisis, both in mediation to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and to protect the people of Gaza and alleviate the humanitarian suffering they face, according to the statement from the presidency.


Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the presidency, added that the meeting addressed the situations in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and the overall regional situation. The two leaders emphasized the importance of protecting the security and sovereignty of these brotherly countries to achieve the interests and aspirations of their peoples for stability and prosperity.


Today, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, President of the UAE, received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Following the welcoming ceremony, the two presidents headed to Al Shati Palace, where they held a meeting to discuss bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen them to achieve the interests of both countries and the aspirations of their peoples, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors.
