UAE Minister of Economy: Efforts Continue to Activate the Unified Gulf Tourist Visa
The UAE announced on Monday its ongoing efforts to activate the Gulf Tourist Visa, which allows its holder to visit six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries under one unified visa.
In a statement issued by his ministry and seen by the Arab World News Agency (AWP), UAE Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq said, "We continue to work with our brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to activate the unified Gulf Tourist Visa across the GCC countries, following its approval."
Bin Touq added, "This visa will contribute to highlighting the diverse tourism potential of the GCC countries, attracting tourists and keeping them for long periods, increasing inter-GCC flights and hotel guest numbers, and making the Gulf countries the world's leading tourist destination for regional and international tourists."
The UAE Minister made the remarks during his participation in a session of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Bin Touq previously expected the unified Gulf tourist visa to come into effect in 2024 and 2025, depending on the readiness of the GCC countries' internal systems.
