Italian gang travels to England to 'rob' Newcastle star's home

Professional gang 'robbed' Newcastle star's home, stole £68,000 worth of car, jewellery

A court in the English city of Newcastle has heard that a gang of professional thieves broke into the home of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, stealing his car and jewellery worth £68,000 ($87,000) in addition to £10,000 in cash.

The court also heard that the Sweden international striker was not at home when the gang broke in through a glass door in April last year. Dan Cordy, prosecuting, said Isak left his home between 4pm and 10pm on April 4, adding that the player discovered the break-in when he returned, noticing the rubbish bins had been moved.

He added that the player's Audi was later found by a fan in an abandoned place. The incident was recorded on the house's surveillance cameras Cordy told the British news agency (PA Media). The gang, which is based in Italy, includes a woman and three men, and is related to the victim. One woman and two men have admitted to the theft, while the fourth member, aged 32, has denied involvement.

The gang arrived in Britain by ferry from Calais to Dover in a Citroen C3 and a Ford in March. Isaac joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since become one of the Premier League's most prominent players.
