UAE President, Iraqi President Discuss Relations

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq, discussed on Wednesday the fraternal relations and the possibilities of developing cooperation and joint work between the UAE and Iraq in all fields to achieve their mutual interests and enhance development and prosperity for their peoples.

This came during Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed's reception at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi of President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, who is on an official visit to the UAE.

The UAE President and the Iraqi President reviewed aspects of cooperation and joint work between the two countries, especially in the economic, investment, development, renewable energy and other fields and the available opportunities to develop them to broader levels.

The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international topics and issues of common interest and exchanged views on them, most notably the developments witnessed in the Middle East region.. stressing in this context the need to find a clear path to comprehensive and lasting peace based on the "two-state solution" and to advance diplomatic efforts that contribute to achieving the aspirations of the peoples of the region for security, stability and development.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the strength of the fraternal relations between the UAE and Iraq and the UAE's firm approach to supporting everything that achieves stability in Iraq and meets the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed expressed the two countries' aspiration to find new opportunities for constructive cooperation, especially in development fields. He stressed the UAE's keenness on fraternal cooperation and joint coordination with Iraq for the benefit of the two countries and regional stability and security, in light of the developments witnessed by the region.

For his part, the Iraqi President expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm reception. He appreciated the UAE's positions and initiatives in support of the Iraqi people at various stages, wishing the country continued development and prosperity.

Rashid stressed Iraq's keenness to continue advancing cooperation and joint work relations with the UAE in a way that serves their mutual interests and benefits their peoples and the peoples of the region as a whole.
