Emirati mediation between Russia and Ukraine succeeds in releasing 300 prisoners

The UAE announced the success of its mediation efforts between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine in completing a new prisoner exchange process that included 150 prisoners from the Ukrainian side and 150 prisoners from the Russian side, for a total of 300 prisoners. The total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries in these mediations reached 2,883 prisoners.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the cooperation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine in the success of the Emirati mediation efforts and the completion of the prisoner exchange process, which reflects their appreciation for the role of the UAE as a reliable mediator.

The ministry noted that with the success of the new mediation, the number of Emirati mediations that have been completed has reached 12 since the beginning of 2024, which indicates the respect and distinguished relations between the UAE and the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the UAE will continue to work to support all diplomatic efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, and to mitigate the humanitarian effects resulting from the crisis, such as refugees and prisoners
