ADNOC Distribution targets $1 billion investment in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE over 4 years

Al Lamki to Al Arabiya: We have the ability to invest billions of dollars in the three markets provided opportunities are available، ADNOC Distribution CEO Bader Al Lamki said that his company is allocating about $1 billion to implement new investments in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the next four years, at a rate of $250 million annually.

Al Lamki added on the sidelines of his participation in the eighth session of the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition "EGYPS 2025" held in Cairo today, that his company is looking to establish between 40 and 50 fuel stations in the three countries during the current year.

Al Lamki estimated the size of the investments allocated by his company this year to expand in Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia at between $250 and $300 million, without specifying the specific allocations for each country.

"We have flexibility in expanding in the distinguished locations in the three countries, so we have not specified investment allocations for each country," according to the CEO.

ADNOC Distribution has less than 900 fuel stations in Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and we are looking to increase them to 1,000 service stations by 2028, in addition to adding more than 500 charging points for electric cars, according to Al Lamki.

Expansion in neighboring markets

Al Lamki indicated that his company is studying opportunities to expand in a number of countries in Africa and East Asia, during the next phase, without specifying specific countries.

"We have an investment capacity of billions of dollars to implement new acquisitions, provided that opportunities are available inside and outside the main markets," according to Al Lamki.

Expansion in Egypt

Al Lamki said that his company is looking to implement new fuel stations in Egypt during the current year, without specifying a specific number of targeted stations. The CEO hinted that the targeted expansions may include promising areas such as the New Administrative Capital and the North Coast.

ADNOC Distribution intends to open the first pioneering service station with modern standards in the Egyptian market this year, in the New Cairo area, according to what the company disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.

The new station is an integrated experience that includes fueling, retail and car care services, in addition to the expanded “ADNOC Oasis” store, and this station will be the largest in terms of services compared to the current eleven stations bearing the “ADNOC Distribution” brand in Egypt.

ADNOC Distribution started its operations in Egypt two years ago after acquiring 50% of the shares of “Total Energies Marketing Egypt”, which resulted in the establishment of a joint venture that operates more than 240 fuel stations across Egypt, in addition to wholesale fuel sales, jet fuel, and blending of lubricants.

Al-Lamki stated that “Total Energies Marketing Egypt” has started blending “ADNOC Voyager” oils in Egypt to be marketed locally and exported to global markets, which contributes to strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional manufacturing hub.

Al-Lamki explained that his company is looking forward to exporting oils from Egypt after 2025, and that it will give priority to markets neighboring Egypt.

Regarding the expansion in the field of charging electric cars in Egypt, Al-Lamki said that his company has not yet started this step, but it is looking forward to expanding it during the next stage. He stated that his company is expanding strongly in the field of charging electric cars in the Emirates, as it intends to add 100 new fast charging points this year.
