India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade announced on Tuesday that it has extended until June 30 the duty quota permits issued in the 2025/2026 fiscal year for gold imports under the India-UAE trade agreement.

The extension, from the previous deadline of March 31, was granted in light of "current geopolitical developments affecting global trade and logistics," the Directorate said in a statement, according to Reuters.

The UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) came into effect on May 1, 2022, enabling UAE companies to benefit from new advantages, including greater access for UAE exports to the Indian market through the elimination or reduction of customs duties on more than 80% of goods, according to data from the UAE Ministry of Economy.

The agreement also aims to enhance market access for UAE service providers across 11 major sectors and more than 100 sub-sectors.
